Jervis Bay to Sydney
If you’re looking for a scenic drive from Jervis Bay to Sydney, there’s no better way than to take the coastal route. This route is dotted with charming towns and breathtaking views, making it a great way to experience the beauty of the Australian coastline. Three fantastic places to stop along the way are Nowra, Berry, and Kiama. Here’s what you can expect to see and do in each of these towns.
Nowra: Nowra is the largest town on this route and is located on the Shoalhaven River. It’s a great place to stop and stretch your legs, grab a coffee, or even go shopping. The main street is lined with shops and cafes, and there are several parks and picnic areas where you can enjoy the sunshine.
One of the must-see attractions in Nowra is the Fleet Air Arm Museum. This museum features aircraft and exhibits from the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet Air Arm, and it’s a fascinating place to learn about Australia’s military history.
Berry: Berry is a picturesque town located just off the highway, and it’s known for its boutique shops, galleries, and cafes. The main street is lined with beautifully preserved heritage buildings, making it a charming place to explore.
One of the highlights of Berry is the Berry Donut Van. This iconic food truck serves up delicious, freshly made donuts, and it’s a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth
We also had a fantastic lunch at an incredible Italian Bistro called Il Locale. They have an amazing array of fresh salads, great plates for kids and of course spectacular Italian flare
Kiama: Kiama is a coastal town located just south of Sydney, and it’s known for its stunning beaches and natural attractions. The most famous of these attractions is the Kiama Blowhole, which shoots water up to 20 meters in the air. It’s a breath-taking sight, and it’s a must-see for anyone visiting Kiama. We really enjoyed watching the spectacular force of the blowhole and looking up and down the coastline as the waves broke against the shoreline.
Another great attraction in Kiama is the Minnamurra Rainforest. This pristine rainforest is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, and there are several walking trails that allow you to explore the area. It’s a great way to get some exercise and see some of Australia’s unique wildlife.
Overall, the drive from Jervis Bay to Sydney is a beautiful and scenic route that’s filled with interesting towns and attractions. If you’re planning a road trip along the Australian coast, be sure to include Nowra, Berry, and Kiama on your itinerary.
