Road Trip Oz put together a fantastic itinerary including Melbourne, Philip Island, Great Ocean Road, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Uluru, Port Douglas, Daintree, Sydney & the Blue Mountains over 30 days, with numerous excursions, tours and experiences included along the way. Great selection of hotels. Everything went smoothly from start to finish – couldn’t have been easier. Australia is a massive place & we will definitely be back & with Road Trip. Highly recommend the company.
These guys are good! They put our itinerary together based on a mutual discussion(s) and di a very good job. The highlight was the end of the Trip in Port Douglas, a GREAT hotel-The Peninsula, and two great tours, the Daintree Rain Forest , Far North Escapes, where the guide-Jason was amazing and then The Great Barrier Reef with Wavelength for snorkeling-AMZING and the crew were fantastic. Highly recommend these guys. By the way Yamilla is fantastic as well.
Our trip was amazing, everything happened just as it was supposed to! I really appreciate Yamila’s efforts to plan our trip just as we asked, everything was well organized. From our transportation arrangements to our private guide Glenn who took us to the Blue mountains, the personnel were excellent. We packed a lot in 3 days each Sydney and Ayers Rock.
Dear Yamila & The Road Trip Team
Thank you for your making my Sydney-Gold Coast Road Trip a smooth one. I would say there wasn’t any hiccup along the trip. Everything well taken care of; from airport transfer to hotel bookings to rental car and some tour bookings. My family really enjoyed the holiday. What I really love was the freedom to drive anywhere with recommendations to go. It was very comprehensive. My kids loved the hotels you booked for us, especially the Anchorage and Pepper Soul! You made our maiden road drive in Australia to a new level. It is definitely an memorable experience. We are already thinking of another road trip in Australia!
Thank you once again!
21-day Australia trip was fabulous. We didn’t want to drive the Australian roads, so The Road Trip organized all of the hotels, transportation and guided tours. The Road Trip team, especially Yamila, had everything planned and they even helped make changes as new opportunities came up. The trip itinerary appealed to everyone as there was the perfect combination of beach, sightseeing, tours, downtime, and outdoor activities. Our favorites included: penguin parade, full-day snorkel tour, night walk tour in the rainforest, and the canyon hike through the Blue Mountain National Park. All six of us agreed that we couldn’t have seen or done as much as we did if it wasn’t for The Road Trip team. We will be contacting you again for our next trip!
“I want to thank Chris and his team for making me and my extended family’s first trip (definitely won’t be my last!) to Melbourne a memorable one 🙂
The guide book that was bestowed upon me during the start of my holiday was literally my BIBLE throughout the trip! The walking tour of Melbourne’s lane and arcades gave me an insight into the city, and I wished I could’ve stayed longer.
It was a breeze for us to move from one apartment to another, and proceed with the activities of our choice as they were all pre-arranged by the team at The Road Trip; saving me the hassle of having to handle multiple booking for a group of 5.
They were also considerate by providing us with “insider information” on the places we’re visiting and additional scenic lookout points during our tour of the Great Ocean Road. Wish I had more time to explore Lorne!
Kudos to the team. Overall a job well done :)”
Road to Narooma:We got a late start which reduced options. Many places closed early on Saturdays due to COVID restrictions and reduced business. We did stop at the Lark Hill Biodynamic winery. It was beautiful and we had lunch with some of their wine. A little pricey but definitely worth the stop. Amooran Hotel was clean and what a great location! The view from our balcony was awesome and we actually saw whales.
We did enjoy the Visitor Center in Ulladulla which had a nice cafe, clean bathrooms, and some souvenirs as well as tourist information. We did the Brodie Park Geological Time Walk but didn’t see any fossils. It was just a local park but still worth the walk. We also went to Mollymook Beach based on some advice we got at the Visitor’s center. Definitely worth the stop. We stopped for lunch at the Treehouse Cafe. Good coffee and food but no bathrooms (which is odd).
We did the Jervis Bay Wild cruise and loved it. Well I did anyway. Michelle got sea sick. We did get to see whales!
We also enjoyed Hyman Beach. It was beautiful. For restaurants I suggest the “World Famous Fish n Chips” per your packet. It was good. We also ate breakfast at the Salty Dog aka Huskisson Cafe/Bakery. The drive-thru liquor store across the street from the motel offered a lot of the local beers.
We stopped in Kiama and saw the blow hole. Cute town and worth exploring. Then we diverted to the Southern Highlands instead of Wollongong and stopped at the Visitor Center in Mittagong. We had lunch nearby. It was definitely worth driving through the Southern Highlands. Really beautiful although there was some interesting driving through the mountains. 🙂
Chateau Elan has beautiful grounds and golf course. Our room was across the parking lot from a field that hosted kangaroos as well as hot air balloons. The Two Fat Blokes wine tasting tour was a lot of fun! We enjoyed the wine and the company. Between the two of us, I believe we brought back about 15 bottles of wine. Lunch was at a beautiful winery and it was fun talking to everyone.
Road to Sydney:We stopped at the West Head Lookout in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. It was a nice place to stop with amazingly clean bathrooms at the camp ground near the look-out. The views were beautiful despite the rainy day (one of the few).
The Crowne Plaza Darling Harbor was the best hotel up to that point. The service was great and they were proactive about bookings so we weren’t stuck. It was a nice room with two queen beds. The location was great also. Sydney was fun and we definitely got a few thousand steps in walking around. The Sydney Opera House was closed to tours and the gift shop was also closed. It was a bit breezy and chilly that day (for us) so we didn’t eat at the cafe. We met friends in Sydney so much of our activities were centered around meeting them. We did do the coastal walk from Cugee Beach to Bondi Beach. So worth it.
We went to Watson’s Bay and had drinks with a friend. Then we took the ferry back to Circular Quay. That was a cheap way to get a quick harbor tour and some good pictures.
I walked up on the bridge after Michelle left. It was definitely worth the exercise. Beautiful views of the harbor looking the other direction.
Now the Blue Mountains: All I can say is how much I loved it. So beautiful and I definitely got a few kilometers of hiking in.
All the skyways and cable cars were closed so hiking was the main mode of transportation. The first day I stuck primarily to the Cliff Walk as it rained that morning and was wet. The second day I hiked the Federal Pass to the Furber Steps and the Cliff Walk back to Echo Point. That was a 5-hour leisurely hike. I enjoyed the Lillianfels indoor pool after that hike to help soothe some sore muscles.
Lillianfels was beautiful and a relaxing place to hang out. I tried both restaurants and liked the Durling Restaurant over Echo’s but both were good. I also liked the location of the hotel.
I went to the Australian Reptile Park and really enjoyed it! I got to see a few animals I hadn’t had the opportunity to see before. The Kangaroos roaming as they pleased was fun to see although one got quite worried when the Komodo Dragon came out for his daily walk.
Nelson Bay was beautiful. The hotel was nice and in a good location. Not much open in the town due to COVID. The hotel bar next door was one of the few bars in town that was open. While I was there I went to the Koala Sanctuary which appeared to set the standard on “glamping”.
I also went to the Oakvale Animal Park and to FighterWorld. I did get to see some F-18s do a low pass over RAAF Williamstown. I also thought it was funny that the RAAF pilots ate at the cafe at Fighterworld among the tourists. I think fighter pilots are the same in every country. 😉
The next day I drove back to Sydney. The Crowne Plaza was again a great place to stay. They had accepted and held a package for me so that I could pack the contents. The rental car return was super easy and a short walk from the hotel.I hated putting on a mask again. I so enjoyed not having to worry about it. COVID caused some booking frustrations but honestly most places were happy to have the business.
This trip was an awesome adventure! I can’t wait to go back and see more when things open up. Thank you for all your time and effort in putting together the itinerary and supporting the trip.
“The Road Trip put together our recently completed self-driving tour of Australia. They were easy to work with and did an outstanding job of arranging our accommodations and travel in country (both driving and flying). We started in Melbourne with an excellent tour of the central city. We then heading over to the Yarra Valley for two nights. It’s an area known for its vineyards and wine making. Then it was off to the Great Ocean Road for two days of beautiful beaches and great stops recommended by The Road Trip. We spent two days in charming Port Fairy at a great boutique hotel. Then it was back to Melbourne to head to Sydney. Some weather issues prevented us from traveling as planned put we did spend a day and a half in Sydney with the highlight being a climb to the top of the Harbor Bridge. After Sydney we spent two days in the Blue Mountains. Our plans were limited by the recent fires which was disappointing. We spent one day in the Hunter Valley and if you are into wine another day would be appropriate. Then back to Sydney to fly up to the Great Barrier Reef. The rainforests and reef were magical. Wavelength did a great job with the reef snorkeling tour. It was then back to Melbourne for the Australian Open which was a blast. Then finally a trip to Phillip Island to watch the penguins come back to their burrows after a busy day in the sea. Overall a memorable trip and it was logistically very easy with The Road Trip.”
“We completed our Australia tour and returned to India on 3rd January, 2020. We feel extremely sorry and sad while watching the news about bushfires in Australia, in particular Kangaroo Island as we have been to Kangaroo Island. Regarding feedback of our self-drive tour to Adelaide- Melbourne our second half of the tour covering Balgownie Estate, hot air balloon ride was wonderful. Healsville, puffing Billy, Dandenong was very scenic and everything went well, as planned. As regards first half covering Kangaroo Island major attractions over there were closed due to high temperatures when we visited on 20 December, 2019. It was hot and very windy too. So we couldn’t do much there. However the hotel location and scenic drive from ferry to the hotel was great. We were happy with all the arrangements made by Theroadtrips which made our trip enjoyable. The tips provided were helpful. We enjoyed food at various places as we got variety in vegetarian food. As we look back we realise that what we experienced at KI was just the beginning of very severe bushfires. We very sincerely hope that your company can cope up with the changed situation due to bushfires. We wish you best luck.”
Doug Dick: “Hi Alex, We enjoyed the trip immensely. Great bikes, great guy who assisted throughout the trip.”
Marita Annunziata: “We were very happy with our booking.”
The booking process was easy, and we were not left wondering what to do or where to meet.
I feel these days we don’t really need drink bottles supplied. A t-shirt is always great, but I would have preferred cotton t-shirt rather than the nylon one. Or what I have received from another company is a snood – protection from the sun or cold very versatile and much more useful. That’s just my opinion though.
The Accommodation bookings were fabulous. I felt we got value for money. Particularly in Myrtleford and Bright.
We had a great trip and are keen to do more- just need to get time away from work!
